The children of year 5 have been on a green-fingered mission. On Monday, we took a short walk to Bridge Farm Allotments, where we had the privilege of learning and discovering about the wide variety of fruits and vegetables, which are grown there. This trip was to inform and excite our children about the possibilities which owning an allotment brings and to introduce them to the importance of living sustainable lifestyles, which we will learn about within the topic. We returned to school, vegetables in hand, ready to touch, feel and smell the ‘fruits’ of our trip.
