During our assemblies we were lucky enough to be visited by Deputy Lieutenant Barnett (MBE DL) - High Sheriff of Lancashire who, on behalf of the queen, spoke with our children about the achievements of the Queen and the sheer significance of her powerful reign.
He shared personal stories too with the children, from times when he had met her Majesty, her love of Corgis and he even told them her favourite food! A highlight of his assembly for the children was the showing of his dress sword, which he wears as part of his uniform. The children and teachers alike were amazed by its fine detail and significance.
Deputy Lieutenant Barnett (MBE DL) was so pleased to meet our children and told us that he had thoroughly enjoyed himself, and that the pupils are a credit to the school.
Later in the day, we also enjoyed a street party with children, parents and staff enjoying tea and cakes together, taking selfies with the queen, and in our special frames designed by pupils and staff. It was great fun!
