Welcome back!

We are excited to welcome the children back to school on Thursday!

We hope you have all had a good summer and are ready for all the exciting things this year will bring.

Thankfully, the start of this year will look very different to the start of last year now restrictions have been lifted.

We have updated our Q&A document for your information (see below) but the main changes our children can expect are as follows:

  • Drop off and pick up routines will revert to the ‘pre-covid’ routine.  Pupils may be dropped off between 8.50 and 9.00 a.m. and can be collected at 3.15 p.m. in FS, Y1 and Y2 and 3.20 p.m. for all other year groups.  We have published our access plan detailing drop off and collection points below.

  • No one-way systems are required, we will still use all gates in a morning at the end of the day to reduce mixing.

  • Parents/visitors can attend face to face meetings and events in school, although we will still offer online opportunities in some cases.

  • Assemblies, clubs, trips, performances and other enrichment activities can now take place.

  • Children will no longer be in bubbles and can mix freely at breaktimes and lunchtimes.

  • Our usual hot lunch service will resume for all children who want to take it (the lunch is free for FS, Y1 and Y2 pupils). Orders can be placed on the School Grid System (or see here for more information).

  • The need to social distance is no longer in place.

  • Adults are no longer required to wear a face covering/PPE, unless they choose to or in certain situations e.g. medical.

  • Individuals are not required to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19 provided they are below the age of 18 years old or fully vaccinated.

  • Out of school clubs resume at their usual times.

Whilst many of our routines will go back to normal we will continue to:

  • Ensure that children follow good hygiene routines throughout the day i.e. wash/sanitise their hands frequently/ catch it – kill it – bin -it approach.

  • We will still have allocated toilets for year groups.

  • Additional cleaning procedures will remain.

  • Extra ventilation will remain.

  • Procedures for when children present symptoms of COVID-19 will continue to be followed i.e. they will be isolated and parents will be asked to collect them.

  • Provide remote learning if children are well enough to learn and lunches (if Free School Meals) for children who are unable to attend school

  • Eat packed lunches in class to reduce numbers in the main hall

  • Run Out of School clubs in classrooms/hall to reduce mixing.

Our staff will also continue their regular testing regime until guidance advises of any required change.

We will still remain vigilant and continue to report positive cases to our local public health team and the government to determine whether any additional measures are required to keep our community as safe as possible, e.g., we may have to temporarily reintroduce bubbles and other safety measures if there is an increase in positive cases in our local area or school.

As before, we have a Risk Assessment in place that will be kept under review (see below) and we also have a contingency plan should positive cases rise. The NHS have also published a useful leaflet for your information.

We will remain hopeful that the removal of restrictions will continue.

During the first week we will be sending out a data collection form for you to complete, we ask that you fill out and return these promptly so that our records are as accurate as possible.  We have also updated our Home School Agreement which can be found below.

Finally, we are expecting delivery of jumpers/cardigans for our Foundation Stage pupils and hoodies for our Year 6 pupils within the first week.  As soon as they arrive into the academy they will be distributed accordingly.

If you have any questions or concerns please do contact us for more information.
