We are very proud of 15 pupils in KS2 who have recently entered the 18th National Chinese Calligraphy Competition for 2026.
This competition is the second time Hawes Side Academy has entered, with 8 pupils last year winning in a variety of different competition categories.
This year, we are very pleased to say that we had a staggering 15 pupils who won either a second or third place prize, which is fantastic. The competition entries were completed as part of our Mandarin lunchtime culture club which is led by our Confucious Classroom teacher Evelyn He. The club supports the children's development and understanding of Chinese language and culture through the traditional art of calligraphy.
'It is wonderful to see our children excelling in Chinese culture and art against a host of other schools across the country.' Marianne Beckett.
