Welcome to Mosaic

We are delighted to welcome you to Mosaic, our specialist enhanced classroom.

At Mosaic, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive within a warm, inclusive, and nurturing community. We value each child as an individual, celebrating their strengths and supporting them through challenges with understanding, patience, and care.

Our provision supports learners who benefit from a highly personalised curriculum and have an Educational Health and Care Plan. These children may require enhanced support with communication, sensory needs, or social interaction, and flourish in a structured, nurturing environment.

Our pupils benefit from a range of supportive approaches, including:
• small class groups
• high staff–pupil ratios
• access to sensory or quiet spaces
• structured routines and visual supports

Our curriculum is carefully designed and closely aligned with the EQUALS Curriculum, ensuring learning is meaningful, accessible, and empowering for all pupils. Through engagement-led, pre-formal, and semi-formal approaches, we focus on holistic development, supporting children socially, emotionally, academically, and physically.

We recognise that every child learns differently, and we provide opportunities that reflect their unique needs and learning styles. Progress is celebrated in all its forms, whether in communication, independence, sensory regulation, or creativity. Every step forward, no matter how small, is valued as an achievement.

At Mosaic, our aim is simple:

'To help every child grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy'

Key Areas of Learning

Communication and Interaction
We enable children to express themselves in the ways that work best for them through speech, gestures, visuals, or assistive technology. Communication is embedded throughout the day and nurtured through meaningful, real-life experiences that build confidence, understanding, and connection.

Cognitive Development
Children are introduced to foundational skills in early literacy, numeracy, memory, and thinking. These skills are developed through rich, sensory-based activities that are engaging, hands-on, and playful. Our aim is to encourage exploration, problem-solving, and an understanding of the world around them.

Child-Led Learning
A core principle of Mosaic is our commitment to child-led learning. During continuous provision, indoors and outdoors, children are encouraged to explore, investigate, and take part in activities that spark their interests. These natural, child-led moments help develop communication, strengthen social connections, and build trust.

Our highly trained staff observe carefully and respond sensitively to each child’s cues, ensuring every interaction promotes engagement, curiosity, and emotional well-being.

Developing Independence and Life Skills
We strive to help every child develop the skills needed to achieve the greatest possible independence and lead fulfilling lives. This includes supporting self-care, social understanding, decision-making, and a growing sense of autonomy.

Our curriculum is motivating, personalised, and tailored to each child’s assessed levels and next steps. Throughout the school day, pupils engage in creative and enriching learning opportunities, both in the classroom and beyond. These experiences build confidence, develop essential life skills, and help children apply their learning in meaningful, real-world contexts.

Where appropriate, children are also supported to access mainstream learning opportunities. This broadens experiences, strengthens social confidence, and encourages success in new environments.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
To further enrich learning, children take part in community visits. These outings allow them to practise real-life skills, apply their learning in everyday situations, and explore the wider world safely and confidently.

Community-based learning supports the development of independence, social understanding, and practical problem-solving, key components of the EQUALS approach, and helps children gain confidence in managing and navigating the world around them.

Partnership Working
We are committed to building strong, collaborative partnerships with families, the wider school community, and a range of specialist professionals. By working closely with therapists and education experts, we create personalised learning journeys that are meaningful and purposeful for every child. Specialists also provide ongoing training and guidance to staff, ensuring the highest standard of care and expertise.

Our strong community connections enrich learning through educational visits, shared experiences, and community activities that broaden children’s understanding of the world.

Partnership with parents is integral to our curriculum’s success. We offer a range of opportunities for collaboration, including:
• regular updates on learning and progress through online platforms
• termly review meetings
• stay-and-play sessions and open events for parents to engage with and support their child’s learning

At Mosaic, we are more than just a place to learn, we are a warm, supportive community where every child is recognised, valued, and encouraged to flourish. We feel privileged to be part of your child’s learning journey and are committed to working alongside you to help them grow, thrive, and achieve their very best.

'We strive to help every child develop the skills needed to achieve the greatest possible independence and lead fulfilling lives.'
