Our Year 6 children were invited to formally apply for a position on the Pupil Leadership team for this academic year. This important role is about representing our academy and upholding our five core values that guide us in everything we do:
Reflection, Resilience, Respect, Responsibility and Relationships
Those who chose to apply, were asked to write a letter to Mrs Boothroyd sharing what they felt they could bring to the team and how to embody the academy’s values. After much thoughtful discussion with the applicants and deliberation, we are proud to announce the leadership team for this year:
Our Principal Pupil Leaders are Nahla and Elsa
Our Vice Principal Leaders are Harry and Merida
Mrs Boothroyd was truly impressed by the calibre of all the applications. Each child brought a unique voice and shone in a way that made the final decision incredibly difficult. We are very fortunate to have such a strong group of young leaders who live out our values every day and are ready to represent their peers with pride.

Who are our OPAL Ambassadors
We are delighted to introduce our new OPAL Ambassadors for this academic year. These children have been carefully chosen because they consistently demonstrate all our academy values.
The role of an OPAL Ambassador is a vital one. These pupils are intrinsic to creating a positive and inclusive playtime experience. They actively engage with their peers, help monitor and care for equipment, support the building of friendships and contribute new ideas and solutions to make playtimes even better.
This year’s OPAL Ambassadors are Leo, Poppy and Harrison.
Question: OPAL Ambassadors are very important during playtime activities. What do you think, as part of this important role, you will enjoy?
Leo: Creating new activities. When we can use the field, I am working on ideas for games that we can all enjoy together.
Harrison: I will enjoy playing with the children on the MUGA. Thinking up games for both girls and boys to play and not just football!
Poppy: I will enjoy helping others at break and lunch times and making sure everyone is enjoying themselves.
Question: Thinking about your role as an OPAL Ambassador, what qualities do you think you will bring?
Harrison: I am a good listener so will listen to others’ ideas on how we can keep making our breaktimes fun!
Poppy: I am very kind and will help support children at playtime to ensure they are all OK.
Leo: I am a role model for behaviour and will model my behaviours for others.
