We are delighted to share some exciting news from Hawes Side Academy as our pupils prepare to take to the stage at this year’s Schools Alive performances at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Our pupils will be performing Aladdin on Thursday 12 February as part of this much-loved musical theatre showcase, which brings together schools from across Blackpool to celebrate creativity, confidence and collaboration through the performing arts.
Schools Alive is a community-led event run by Blackpool Music Service, offering children the opportunity to perform on a professional stage at one of Blackpool’s most iconic venues. Taking part helps pupils build confidence, teamwork skills and a love of musical theatre, while giving them a memorable insight into life as a performer.
In preparation for the performance, our pupils have been working incredibly hard both in rehearsals and through fundraising. To help raise money for costumes, props and staging, they recently took part in a sponsored Danceathon, where they truly danced their hearts away.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported and donated, helping to make this experience possible for our children. We are particularly grateful to Timpson, whose generous £100 donation will directly support production costs and help bring our Aladdin performance to life on stage.
Schools Alive plays a vital role in developing children’s confidence, self-belief and creativity, while also strengthening links between local schools and the wider Blackpool community.
Caroline Boothroyd, Principal of Hawes Side Academy, said:
“Schools Alive is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to grow in confidence and showcase their talents. Performing at the Winter Gardens is an unforgettable experience for them, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts.”
Alex Fleckney, Schools Alive Lead at Hawes Side Academy, added:
“Our pupils have worked incredibly hard, from rehearsals to fundraising through the Danceathon. Support from families, the community and local businesses makes a real difference and allows our children to fully immerse themselves in the performance experience.”
We are very proud of all the pupils involved and look forward to cheering them on as they represent Hawes Side Academy at this year’s Schools Alive performances.
Thank you once again to everyone who has supported our children on this exciting journey.
