3S have been buzzing with creativity this term as they took on the challenge of designing and sewing their very own pencil cases in our DT lessons. From their first sketch to the final stitch, the children explored mixed materials, experimented with different sewing techniques, and learned how careful planning can bring their idea to life. Along the way, they showed fantastic resilience, especially when threading needles, fixing wonky seams, or rethinking parts of their designs that did not go as planned!
Reflection played a big part in their journey. Pupils regularly took a step back to review their work, make improvements, and proudly watch their projects grow from simple pieces of fabric into unique creations. Take a look at what they have achieved.
It was heartwarming to see everyone offering encouragement, sharing tips, and helping one another through tricky stitches and design technicalities. They made Mr Fleckney and Mrs Webb incredibly proud!
The finished pencil cases are a sight to see! Designs ranged from bold, colourful tributes to ‘The Powerpuff Girls’, ‘Fortnite’ and elegant patterns and beautifully detailed masterpieces fit for a queen.
We are incredibly proud of 3S for their teamwork, determination, and imagination throughout this project. Well done, 3S, for stitching skills, creative thinking, and the confidence to keep trying, even when learning felt challenging at first.
