Not only is it an exciting time for sport with the World Cup but we have had our own sports fixtures this week as well!  Whilst we may not rival the World Cup our children still did their very best and showed excellent sportsmanship.

On Monday, Foundation, Year 1 and 2 took to the field and did many races and sporting activities, cheered on by their families.  We were thankful for the weather being kind and that the children got to take part.

Sadly, Tuesday morning saw Year 3 and 4’s Sports Day postponed.  The field was just a bit too wet to go ahead that morning.  It was a tough decision, and we understood that some parents, carers and family members were inconvenienced by the decision, many taking the morning off out of their busy day.  We are hopeful that we can get this rearranged soon.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, the sun shone through and dried up the field enough so that Years 5 and 6 could compete in their Sports Day.  There were some close-run races, and we were very impressed with the speed and agility of some of our young athletes.

Across all the Sports Days it was wonderful to see the Hawes Side community come together and the Hawes Side team all pulled together to ensure, where they can and weather permitting, the events went off without a hitch.

We must wait a bit longer for Years 3 and 4’s Sports Day but we have no doubt it will be a fun morning (or afternoon) of sporting fun and camaraderie.
